County Supervisor Ron Roberts Presents $40,000 Motorized Sidewalk Scrubber to Clean and Safe at Grand Opening Ceremony
SAN DIEGO, Friday, September 10, 2004 – On Friday, September 10th 2004 the Downtown San Diego Partnership celebrated the grand opening of the relocated Clean & Safe Program offices at the corner of C Street and 6th Avenue (the program had previously been located at J Street and 6th Avenue).
At the event, Supervisor Ron Roberts presented the donation of a heavy-duty motorized sidewalk scrubber from the County of San Diego. In test runs, this $40,000 machine allowed Clean and Safe to increase its productivity an amazing 600% over a four-hour period when compared to current manual power washing. Because this new piece of equipment reclaims water as it cleans, six full city blocks (24 sidewalks) can now be cleaned in only four hours. This donation has already had an immediate impact in improving the cleanliness of downtown, and we are deeply appreciative to Supervisor Roberts for his continued leadership and support.
The Downtown San Diego Partnership is the leading advocate for the continued economic growth and revitalization of downtown. The Partnership works closely with regional business organizations and government agencies to improve the business climate for downtown San Diego, and helps shape policy on issues affecting downtown. Its mission is the advancement of the downtown as the economic, cultural and governmental center of the San Diego region through leadership, advocacy and education.
The DSDP was formed in 1993 with the merger of two prominent business associations, San Diegans Inc. and the Central City Association. Today, the Partnership has more than 325 members and has emerged as the leading advocate for the future growth of downtown.
