Columbia Garage
This 608 stall, nine-story public parking structure is located at 501 West C Street, at the corner of Columbia and C Street. The project was privately developed by Five Star Parking at a cost of $10.7mm without any public subsidy and is truly a market driven development. The facility is surrounded by five major office buildings including One America Plaza, Advanced Equities, 501 West Broadway, Emerald Plaza and 550 Corporate and was developed to provide convenient overflow parking for each of these office buildings.
Parking Palace
Built in 1991, this stand alone parking garage is owned and operated by Five Star Parking and designed to serve the overflow parking needs of the B Street Financial Corridor including Wells Fargo, Union Bank, Comerica Bank, Symphony Towers, Merrill Lynch, Golden Eagle Plaza and Bank of America buildings. The San Diego Symphony parks all their event staff and musicians on site in addition to patrons of the Symphony season ticket programs.
Parking Meters / Parking Cards
In 1998, the City of San Diego installed 5,262 new parking meters throughout the City. These new parking meters accept nickels, dimes, quarters, and prepaid electronic debit cards.
Downtown Parking Management Group
The Downtown Parking Management Group implemented a new pilot program lowering parking meter rates, extending time limits and installing 50 new multi-space pay-and-display terminals downtown. The pilot program is designed to modernize the City's parking system and make it easier to pay for parking on the street. Since the implementation of the program, the City has increased its parking revenue by 30%.
