Partnership Committees

FINANCE COMMITTEE
Committee Chair: Bill Sauls

The Finance Committee is responsible for reviewing and providing guidance for the DSDP’S financial matters. Specifically, the committee assures internal controls, independent audit, and financial analysis for the organization.
 
PUBLIC POLICY COMMITTEE
Committee Chair: Phil Rath

The Public Policy Committee provides oversight for all matters of DSDP that relate to government, particularly at the local level.  The committee sets priorities on handling issues that uniquely affect downtown and the region.  The committee will draft DSDP position papers and make recommendations to the Board of Directors.
 
STRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEE
Committee Chair: Rick Bach

The Strategic Planning Committee will focus on the governance, rules of the Board of Directors, and the committee structure for the DSDP.  This committee will create a working plan for the organization and will look at term limits for the Board, responsibilities, and will create a system for appointing Board and Committee members.
 
EVENTS COMMITTEE
Committee Chair: Nikki Clay

DSDP offers a variety of events annually;  Member Mixers, Luncheons, The Golf Tournament, The Taste of Downtown and the Alonzo Awards.  The Events Committee will focus on providing the most creative and beneficial events San Diego has to offer!  Each committee member will have the opportunity to work on events throughout the year.  We will strive to provide value to each DSDP member by creating effective networking and branding opportunities.
 
HOMELESS POLICY COMMITTEE
Committee Chair: Robin Madaffer

Homelessness has become a significant problem and the DSDP is uniquely positioned to help guide the discussion on homeless policy issues.  This committee will focus on the best practices throughout the country to bring solutions to our problem in downtown.
 
Subcommittee: Ending Homelessness Leadership Team
Committee Chair: Robin Madaffer

The purpose of this committee is to provide a forum for business, social service agencies, police, elected officials, faith-based organizations, and residents to coordinate efforts with respect to social services and security issues.  Members of this committee seek out proactive solutions to assist people who are homeless, disadvantaged or in need of social services.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
Committee Chair: Diane Mueller

The success of any membership-based organization is its members.  Keeping members engaged, offering amazing networking opportunities, and brand exposure are some of the reasons why the DSDP membership base is so strong.  The Membership Committee will focus on recruitment & retention of members.  The committee will evaluate the membership process and provide ways to add value to each member.

 
DOWNTOWN PLANNING COMMITTEE
Committee Chair: Ignacio De La Torre

The DSDP has long been the watchdog of downtown planning.  This committee monitors and advocates on relevant issues affecting the design and development of downtown San Diego.  Its goal is to ensure that planning is done in a holistic manner, so that impacts of one development take into consideration the effect on the rest of the community.  The committee also seeks to enhance downtown’s regional transportation system with efficient circulation, public parking, and convenient linkages to regional auto, air, rail and transit connections. This committee will also discuss affordable and “green” business opportunities for environmental sustainability.
 
SAN DIEGO JOBS PAC
Committee Chair: Scott Maloni

The PAC has been formed to allow for greater dialogue about the importance of job creation and economic growth.  This would create an opportunity to engage directly with members of the public about the need to focus on short and long term programs that will build an economically sustainable community.  This PAC will be broad-based and will examine issues, public policy, and candidates that have an impact on the local and regional economy, ranging from opposing fees and regulations that will inhibit growth to supporting and proposing incentives for businesses to relocate and create jobs within our community.  We will also focus on issues impacting downtown such as redevelopment, homelessness, and issues impacting the quality of life for businesses, residents, and visitors of downtown.
 
BUSINESS ATTRACTION PROGRAM (CMD)
Committee Chair: Rob Lankford

The Downtown San Diego Business Attraction Program is a proactive response to enhance the competitive profile of the downtown office market within the San Diego regional market and beyond. Managed by the DSDP, downtown’s business leadership organization, the Downtown San Diego Business Attraction Program will provide a variety of services and marketing products to support property owners, brokers and other real estate professionals in their efforts to attract, retain and grow tenants within downtown office buildings.
 
PBID ADVISORY BOARD COMMITTEE
Committee Chair: Claudine Scott

The PBID Advisory Committee will provide input to the staff regarding operational issues of the Property Business Improvement District (PBID) Program, offer recommendations for the PBID budget, and review the Operating Agreement between the City and DSDP.
 
DOWNTOWN SHUTTLE COMMITTEE

The Shuttle Committee advoactes for a circulator shuttle system in downtown through collaborations with SANDAG, CCDC, MTS, business leaders and other stakeholders. The committee actively participates in transportation related decisions in order to promote economic prosperity and to enhance the quality of life in downtown San Diego.
